Six months

Six months ago to the day, I was up at 5:30AM to get ready to leave the hotel for my appointment at the US Embassy in Guatemala. This is our picture taken just before we left. It's hard to believe it's only been six months that Charli has "legally" been mine. Sometimes it feels like she's been home forever. We are also at the halfway point -- with adoptions, international in particular, they say that your child needs to be home with you as long as they were "in country" to be truly adjusted and used to their new life. Well, she came home just a couple weeks past her first birthday so we are now halfway 'home' too. We've come a long way. And she's doing amazingly well.

The tears at daycare and the restless nights will pass. If this is our obstacle of adjustment and attachment, so be it. Soon, it too will be just a distant memory much like the restless nights waiting to bring her home are now.
