Easter Weekend 2009
We went to church on Maundy Thursdy after dinner with Jama and Papa. But we had time to kill. So Charli went walking with Papa. I took a picture of it and must say I love this picture. And then there was Easter Sunday. She wasn't quite sure what to make of the egg hunt but she did okay. I also managed to get a picture of all 5 grandkids - 3 of them had already changed out of "church" clothes but hey they're all together. And I even had my friend Sue snap a picture of Charli and I together as I have gotten some comments of no pictures of us - but that's hard to do when you're the photographer.

Sleep update
Well, Charli is NOT sleeping in her crib yet. I tried the re-education for a couple of nights but just couldn't do it last night. I am trying so hard to not get taken down by the crud once again so I am physically exhausted. I couldn't handle the struggle last night. I know I'm weak. But for those of you who have never done this, it is NOT easy to listen to your child cry, yell for you and get all worked up.
The one good thing was that last night, although in my bed, she put herself to sleep. I didn't have to sing to her, rub her back, or do my dad's finger nail trick (sorry, this would need a demonstration to better understand, but he learned this when I was a baby and all babies are truly mesmerized by it). So, I find this a step in the right direction now only if I can get her to do this in her bed we'll be set. But hey, as they say, "pick your battles" and last night this was not the one.

One night down
I decided that since I don't work on Fridays and this is a more relaxed weekend, I would start on the re-education of Charli's sleep pattern. She had a good day at school today but of course did not nap. They had also gone for two walks outside today and we went for one after dinner. Being that she should have been very tired and having had all that fresh air I thought she may just fall to sleep as soon as she hit the pillow. I put one of my pillows in her crib for her along with her teddy bear and blanket. (I know pillows are not a normal thing here in the US but Charli came home sleeping best on a pillow) I put her to bed and waited 5 minutes. She didn't settle down. Went into her room, put all her blankets, bears, and pillow back in bed and left. I waited 10 minutes this time. Did the routine again and waited 20 minutes. She didn't get so hysterical that she was soaking wet with sweat like she used to. She also did manage to settle down for brief periods of time. I could not go the next step which is waiting 30 minutes. She's sound asleep on my bed-it took only 6 minutes from the time I got up, went to get her and put her down until she was out. She really was tired. I'll try again tomorrow night and maybe I can go to the 30 minute mark. Hopefully within a week or so she'll be sleeping her normal 10-12 hours in her bed. In the meantime, I'll just take it one night at a time. I'll let you know how it goes.
